Incredible charity fundraiser Blind Dave Heeley and Chris Mason discuss preparations for the Swansea to West Brom cycle challenge.

Chris Mason, Account Manager for precision engineers A&M EDM and Blind Dave Heeley look forward to riding in the 2018 Albion Foundation Bike Challenge.

From 4 April for three days, they will cycle 156 miles from Swansea, over the Brecon Beacons to The Hawthorns in time for the WBA vs Swansea City match on Saturday 7 April.

A&M are based in Smethwick and the company is supporting Chris to raise funds for the Foundation’s work in the local community.

Chris played football for Halesowen and Stourbridge and was a non-league England international. His football exploits resulted in surgery and a new titanium knee two years ago.

A&M engineer a wide range of metals including titanium for aerospace and automotive components, but left Chris’s new knee to the NHS.

Chris said, "Doctors encouraged me to cycle to strengthen my knee and I got a new bike in 2017 when I joined A&M’s cycle to work scheme.

I’m looking forward to the challenge and joining the riders including Blind Dave, Bob Taylor and Brendon Batson. We all hope the weather is kind to us.”
